About me, the (very) long version

I live in Asia, and I work full-time (not going to be too specific for privacy reasons, but as a knowledge worker). I recently completed my Master's degree. I was working for the first part of it, and then was a new mom for the rest. That was a pretty busy year! Learning about and implementing ways to improve my productivity and workflow helped make it all possible. I would love to help others achieve work they're passionate about too.

I've always had a soft spot for quirky devices. I still have fond memories of my Palm Pilot m125 which I read ebooks on before the first Kindle existed. (Gosh that makes me feel old!)

I'm an avid reader and consumer of any media that has interesting information: articles, newsletters, videos, free courses, podcasts, you name it. I love learning new skills, especially through self-study. For example, language learning is one of my main interests. I self-studied French to an (officially certified) intermediate level in my mid-20s, while working at a high-pressure full-time job and not knowing any native French speakers. A few months of study and I got my advanced certification in it too. I'm working on a fourth language now!

Because my work involves synthesizing a lot of information, and since I spend much of my free time learning new things, I've also grown to love delving into personal knowledge management. I primarily use Obsidian and some Notion. I use these same tools to plan and create all my content.

My YouTube channel, pixel leaves, started when I realized I kept typing out long-winded comments on Reddit to answer peoples' questions and help them with their problems. Videos seemed like a more efficient way to help people out with their e-ink tablets, and I didn't see a creator taking quite the approach I wanted to take. I also found success in sharing videos on other topics that interest me, like digital minimalism, slow productivity, and using technology with intention. What I strive for in my videos is for them to be enjoyable to consume, if not relaxing. That includes not just calm, easy-to-follow presentation but also distilling things down to provide the most value I can without wasting the audience's time.

I created some digital products for e-ink tablets, which I take pride in being easily editable or customizable with very little technical knowledge. (One of the five-star reviews that touched my heart the most is a 70-something year old who said she was able to easily use them!) My ultimate goal is to empower people to craft the best productivity systems and workflows to suit their needs and achieve their goals.

I'm an avid reader and consumer of any media that has interesting information: articles, newsletters, videos, free courses, podcasts, you name it. I love learning new skills, especially through self-study. For example, language learning is one of my main interests. I speak three languages, two natively. The third language is French, which I self-studied to an (officially certified) intermediate level in my mid-20s, while working at a high-pressure full-time job, not living anywhere even near a French-speaking country, and not knowing any French speakers. I'm working on a fourth (European Portuguese) and gunning for a fifth (taking suggestions!).
